The Derby
Our fourth annual Show Jumping Derby was held on the 24th September. The course of 20 jumps, which includes a grass banks, designed by BSJA Course Builder, James Sapwell, has proven a very popular and enjoyable annual event. The three classes cater for all levels of rider, with perpetual trophies presented to the winners and rosettes awarded to tenth place.
An extra award, The Joker Memorial Trophy was presented to Erin Barclay and Samson, for the most amusing round of jumping. They provided some hilarious entertainment at the water jump where Emma, Jenni and Roy couldn't convince Samson to get his feet wet.
Hazel Steen riding Declan, beat 35 other competitors to win the Novice 65cm class and receive the Alan W Monahan Perpetual trophy presented by David Ralston. April Campbell on Cindy won Class 2 (75cm) and Class 3 (85cm) by Rachel Woods with Oliver Twist

The course changed this year with the addition of a second derby bank and a water obstacle. Resident fence builder extraordinaire, Alistair Buchanan, created some very colourful new fillers in the form of caterpillars and toadstools.
